A Simple Yes

All I can give You is my yes. I have no strength to do, nor power to be. I do not have a righteousness that is mine. No wisdom or insight dwells in me outside of what You have given and imparted.

All I have is a simple yes; a yes to the One who loves me - the ability to choose the One who has already chosen me. It is a simple gift, my only gift. But I give it to You with a heart that longs for more.

I give it not even knowing what I have said yes to, but I give it knowing that I can trust You. I trust the love that burns so strong. I trust the kindness and care that You have shown. I trust the wisdom that has planned my path and guided my steps. And I trust the zeal that burns in Your heart for my purity and devotion.

A life of faith means a life of trust. A life of faith means leaning in, not holding back. You said “yes” to the Father, when You wanted to say “no.” You said “yes” so I could be forgiven and set free. Your yes is my salvation. Your yes is the hope I cling to, for in Your yes, I have eternal life with You. So I give You my “yes.” It is all I have to honor You. It is all I can give for everything else I have, comes from Your hand.

I don’t want my heart to say “no” to You. I do not know my future, I do not know what You will ask of me, but I do know that I belong to You and that I can trust You. I can trust You to love me and care for me. I can trust You to guide and protect me. I know that everything You plan is always for my good. I may not see, and I do not always understand, but I have pledged my life to You.

How can I withhold my yes? How can I stay safe in my own attempts to govern and control? Such things are but an illusion and a barrier to You. So, I say yes. I dare to let go and come with You into a lifestyle of devotion and a path of purity, for it is here that I will meet You and know You. It is here that my heart will find joy and will know the strength and enabling by simply leaning into You. It is not a half-hearted consent but a joyful abandonment to One I trust more than myself. You are the Lord of All and lover of my heart. May we live forever in the power and joy of a willing yes.
