Doing the Impossible
Imperfection meeting perfection; sinners standing in glory - that's impossible. Light always dispels darkness. Holiness always eradicates the imperfect and sinful. Yet God did what could not be done. He achieved what the devil knew was impossible. But then, He is the God of the impossible.
Fallen humanity dwelling with a God who is glorious in splendour, was made possible by kindness that no devil could understand. A sacrificial love, beyond the scope of demonic comprehension, enabled a holy God to release those bound to the evil one by their own acts of rebellion. Justice had to be satisfied, so God Himself met its demands. Only love would do such a thing. Only a God who is love would suffer for the sinful so that mercy could triumph over judgment.
Demons gloated over the fall of man. The deceptive serpent feasted upon the dust of fallen humanity. With spiteful glee he became the dragon ready to devour the very image of God. Self-satisfied and blinded by hate, he could not conceive the impossible. A suffering servant: a slain lamb - pride could not comprehend such sacrifice.
It was a mystery hidden in the heart of God, because no other heart could conceive such love. For the righteous to become sin? Impossible. For the holy to be condemned? How could such a thing be? The eternal Word met death, but death could not win. A slain lamb conquered hell and released all who were bound. With God nothing is impossible because love will not fail. It will endure all things. It will overcome the power of darkness and destroy the works of the enemy.
God in His Holiness, reclaiming man in his sinfulness; unapproachable light infusing fallen man. Impossible. But then, He is the God of the impossible.
