Sorry Will Suffice

I know there are reasons why you do and say the things you do. Life has wounded, people have brought pain, and the past has left scars you seek to hide. I know. I understand, for my heart too, carries its wounds.

I don’t expect you to be perfect for neither am I. We cannot build on promises we can never keep. Yet we can create something beautiful, on the integrity of a love that believes the best and seeks to mend the mess.

We are wounded lovers navigating the life we pledged to share. We knew there would be issues; we understood that human frailty would lead to disappointment, misunderstanding, and pain. Yet, all that is required for love to triumph, is the humility to admit wrong and the willingness to say, “I'm sorry.”

“Sorry” says you care. “Sorry” says that you will come towards me, not back away. “Sorry” gives me the hope that we will grow together in love and in courage. Courage to face our fears, and to walk with each other in grace and truth.

“Sorry” is our starting point. It sows hope into the soil of our love and makes forgiveness easy. Saying sorry mends hearts and opens the door to deeper understanding, greater wisdom, and lasting connection. It cannot remove the past, yet it paves the way forward. It holds the promise of a future where we can grow and change.

Journeying together becomes sweeter, when humility makes us quick to listen, and slow to keep score. Love will never fail when we refuse to let pride harden our hearts, and blind us to the joy we’ve found in each other, and the peace we have in our God.
